Animals and Shifters
Unless the shifter spends a lot of time with an animal, it probably won’t like them. Shifters do not fit in either the Human World or the Animal World, due to their rage. (Note: Nuwisha do not have rage and can get along with animals better than other shifters.)
This means that just because you are a Garou, dogs everywhere will not love you and come scampering up as if you are Ace Ventura. In fact, most will likely see you as a big scary thing *but* you can, with canines, establish a dominant relationship with the animal, forcing it to behave with appropriate body language etc. Gifts, of course, transcend this.
This also does not mean a shifter is attacked or fled from as soon as they are contacted (except for those with Mark of the Predator, Disconcerting, etc). If you run across an Animal form of some type, make sure you do not pose it loving you, unless you either use a gift or merit, have RPed with the animal belonging to you, etc.
You can train animals out of the dislike reaction, much like Humans no longer fear Shifters just from encountering someone with Rage, but the Curse is still in effect.
