Streetwise Channel

Using the Streetwise Channel WITHOUT an alias means that you are speaking as your PC and others on the Streetwise Channel know that it is your PC who is speaking. Using the Streetwise Channel WITH an alias means that you are trying to hide your identity, but you are still your PC and you can only provide information that your PC knows in character.

The Streetwise Channel is an IC channel and only IC information should be conveyed on it. As such please do not use the form ‘describes <name>’ on the channel. If you have their name or actual description, you can give either or both, otherwise you can’t really describe them effectively.

You may get a judge and roll your Perception+Streetwise to determine who is behind a particular street name. The difficulty and number of successes required will be determined by the judge, and will be affected by factors such as Fame and Arcane among others.

Streetwise Identification

In order to try to identify the person behind the alias used on the Streetwise channel, an opposed extended roll is made. Whoever first gains 5 successes over the other’s accumulated total ‘wins’.

Investigator: Wits+Streetwise, diff 6.

Subject: Charisma+Streetwise or Manipulation+Streetwise, diff 6.

If the Investigator wins, then they get the publicly-known name of the Subject only. All other details about the Subject must be discovered through later IC Investigation efforts. If the Subject wins, then the Investigator cannot find out anything about the Subject. (The Investigator may try again after 1 IRL week, no sooner for the same Subject.)

After all rolls are made, the Judge will allow the Subject to roll their own Wits+Streetwise, diff 6. If the Investigator makes an attempt to hide their identity (Disguise, Fast-Talk, etc.), those successes are subtracted from those of the Subject. The number of successes remaining will allow them the following information:

  • 1 – Someone was asking around about them.
  • 2 – Someone of Gender <X> was asking around about them.
  • 3 – Someone of Gender <X> was asking around about them. (include partial desc)
  • 4 – Person, Street-Alias <Y>, was asking around about them. (include partial desc)
  • 5 – Person, Named of <Z>, was asking around about them. (include partial desc)
