SuperKnow Part I: The different types of SuperKnow

There are two types of SuperKnow on Miami by Night: 1) AWARE and 2) LORE_OK.

AWARE means that you are (you got it) aware of that particular super group. Without the lore to back it up, however, you have no real, concrete knowledge. For example, if you are set Vampire AWARE, your character would most likely believe that crosses and garlic are effective weapons. Likewise, if you are set Garou AWARE, your character would most likely believe that wolfsbane was as effective a weapon as silver and that werewolves only changed on the full moon.

LORE_OK means that not only are you AWARE, but you’ve learned enough to buy the next dot of Lore in that subject. (0-1, 1-2, etc.) After you purchase the dot, you will be set back down to AWARE until you gain more information and can purchase the next dot.

SuperKnow Part II: Gaining Superknow ICly

You may gain SuperKnow in three ways:

1) Witnessing it first hand. For example, if you witness a vampire biting someone where it’s OBVIOUSLY a bite (fangs, blood, holes in the neck… the whole nine yards), if you get bit and the vampire takes /no/ effort to preserver the Masq at all, if a vampire sits down and shows you fangs/no pulse/etc., if you are of a character type that does NOT suffer the delerium and you witness a crinos, if you see someone shoot a lightning bolt out of his little finger, if you see someone get turned into a frog, etc.

2) If you are already at least AWARE in one type of SuperKnow, being told by someone with Lore. Only someone with LORE can tell you enough information for you to gain awareness of a supergroup without witnessing it first hand. There also has to be a GOOD reason for you to believe the person — i.e.; he/she is a master in your tradition, your Garou elder, your Sire, etc. Basically, if you already have SuperKnow, it will be easier for you to gain more since your world view has already been shattered. If you do NOT already have SuperKnow, it will be very difficult to get that first AWARE.

3) Studying from a library that has been judgenoted has having specific lores.

NOTE: Just because a bookstore is an “Occult” bookstore, that does not mean you will be able to buy books containing Lores, Hedge Magick, Sphere knowledge, Thaumaturgy, etc., unless the bookstore is specifically judgenoted as having those things. If you’re attempting to search for them, please call a judge and make the appropriate research rolls.

SuperKnow Part III: Applying for SuperKnow

When applying for SuperKnow, send a DETAILED account of why you believe you should be set AWARE or LORE_OK in a particular group to the Wizard of that group. By detailed, I mean who told you what (a log if you have the capabilities)… if you saw it first hand, who did you see and what did they do? If it was in a timestop, who judged it and who was in it? Simply saying, “Player X told me everything about vampires,” isn’t going to cut it. If there is any question, the Wiz will go to the player referenced in the mail and ask him/her if he/she really did tell you all that.
