What is a MUSH?

In a nutshell, a MUSH is a text-based roleplaying game in which multiple players can interact real-time.

In Miami by Night, we have attempted to recreate, in text form, a small portion of the city of Miami (usually just called the ‘grid’). The IC (in character) grid is made up of about 1000 rooms, some of which are streets, businesses, homes, beaches, parks, and other things you’d normally find in a city. There is also an OOC (out of character) area, where you can create a character, test code, or simply hang out if you feel like chatting instead of playing.

When a player is on the IC grid, it is assumed that he/she will be roleplaying his/her character. Anything you say or do is assumed to be something your character says or does, not you the player.

The MUSH also has its own scripting language. Many things on the MUSH, such as game commands, cars, door locks, and multi-descers (objects which allow you to change character descriptions/outfits easily) have already been coded, so you can use them without having to know how to write MUSHcode. For those that do wish to learn how to code, detailed help files are provided in the game.
